Ski Area

112 snow-covered kilometres of slopes spanning blue, red and black as well as 25 lifts make the Obergurgl-Hochgurgl ski region a dream destination for discerning winter sports fans. It’s Tyrol’s first non-glacial ski area to open each season, in mid November. Beginners, families and pros alike can enjoy maximum diversity on these sunny slopes (1,800-3,080 m) until the end of April. The latest highlight is the Kirchenkarbahn II in Hochgurgl, which encompasses even more ski slopes and freeride options.

Ski slopes & lifts

A total length of 112km (approx. 56km Hochgurgl ski region, approx. 56km Obergurgl ski region), of which:

  • 36.5km easy (blue)
  • 55.5km medium (red)
  • 20km difficult (black)

Change mountains with a view: the 8-person circular aerial tramway ‘Top Express’ connects the Obergurgl and Hochgurgl ski regions the most direct way possible. Its 50 gondolas can transport up to 1,200 people each hour and it takes just 9 minutes to traverse the 3.6km panoramic stretch over the Königstal and Ferwaltal valleys.

Where can I find my favourite slope?

The Obergurgl-Hochgurgl ski region offers great challenges at every level. Beginners appreciate the flat slopes at the Gaisberg, Übungs and Mahdstuhllift as a great place to learn the ropes. They’ll soon start to feel confident on the many blue slopes in Hochgurgl. With more carving practice, the medium slopes at the Festkogel in Obergurgl and the Schermerspitze descent in Hochgurgl are really fun. If very experienced winter sports fans are looking for a baptism of fire, the mogul slope from Hohe Mut in Obergurgl and the steep slope at Top-Wurmkogl II in Hochgurgl are just the ticket.

Safe enjoyment without waiting in line

Theoretically, the modern lifts and tramways in Obergurgl-Hochgurgl can transport more than 42,000 people per hour. 6 climbing aids help winter sports fans get from the valley up into the mountains to ski quickly and smoothly, even on the busiest of days. So there’s plenty of space for wide curves and more safety for each individual. Nowhere else can guests throw themselves into their passion for carving so freely, experiencing what drew them to Alpine winter sports in the first place. However, the lift company takes their responsibility very seriously. If there is any danger of avalanche or too much wind, the affected slopes and lifts will be closed for the safety of visitors.

Longest descent:

Wurmkogl – Obergurgl/Pill (8km long, 1,260m height difference )

Hardest descent:

Obergurgl: from Hohe Mut Alm to Gaisberg, mogul slope
Hochgurgl: from Top Mountain Star to Wurmkogl-Mittelstation, steep!

Experience everything this varied ski region has to offer!

  • Highlights such as Funmountain (with a snow park, fun slopes & fun cross), First Line, selfie-cam and night skiing will keep you on your toes.
  • High-end Alpine gastronomy provides excellent refreshment.
  • Breathtaking views are offered by the fully glazed panoramic bar at Top Mountain Star on the Wurmkogl at over 3,000m above sea level as well as the Hohe Mut Alm at 2,670m on Hohe Mut, a mountain with exceptional views.

Ski pass prices 20/21: available from early July 2020

Tip: from a 3-day ski pass, you’ll get the valley-wide Ötztal valley super ski pass!
